Prison Clothing vs Church Clothing

1 Timothy 2:9-10 KJV — In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

1 Peter 3:3-5 KJV — Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:

On a recent prison visit I noticed a poster that detailed the dress code required to enter the prison. As a man I had never taken much notice of it personally but when I looked at it I saw the dress code standard for women.

What was glaringly obvious to me was that the dress code required for women to enter the prison was more disciplined and godly than what women who profess to be holy or godly wear on an every day basis and to go to church in.

Next time you go to church, check out the dress code of the women in your church then come back and comment below. Even take note of the women in your church and how they dress outside of church.

It is sad to see that even the young girls today have traded beautiful flowing dresses like these:

To wear outfits like these:

Women and young girls nowadays are wearing outfits that 20 to 30 years ago would be the recognized attire of a prostitute.

Over the decades I have heard the following phrase with this misquoted verse of scripture probably hundreds of times.

I can wear what I want God said “render your heart not your garments”

However, the actual scripture states

Therefore also now, saith YAH, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning: And REND your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto YAH your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil. Joel 2

The word REND literally means tear or rip. In context YAH was telling his people NOT to tear or rip their clothes as a show of sorrow contrition and repentance but to tear their hearts in true sorrow contrition and repentance, so, absolutely nothing to do with being allowed to dress like a harlot or lady of the night.

If you are a woman reading this, I am not telling you exactly what to wear but the scriptures are very clear, there is a standard of dressing.

When asked how women should dress I state emphatically look at the Royal dress like royalty, whatever region you are there are royals dress like princesses and queens, but firstly, more importantly take a stock of yourselves. Ask yourselves some questions.

Are your daily outfit choices representative of you being a daughter of YAH God ?

Are the outfits you choose to wear to church appropriate or would you even be refused entry to a prison as a visitor?

Shalom Love and Blessings
