GIVING THE TRUTH

1 Corinthians 9:14 — Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.

The the topic of giving tithes and offerings is a very divisive and controversial issue both within the body of MessiYAH / Christ.

With that in mind I have purposed to present this topic of giving using ALL scriptures.

All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. — 2 Timothy 3:16-17 KJV

So let’s begin…

What better place to start than, at the beginning.

The first time we see giving mentioned was in the account of Cain and Abel. Here we see not an exacting of the amount that was offered but the most important facet of giving, which is, what we give being accepted by YAH God.

…and YAH* had respect unto Abel and to his offering: But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. .. — Genesis 4:4-5 KJV

So the question is WHY?

Why was one offering accepted and another offering not accepted YAH?

As you may well have experienced man will accept anything given and even make up types of giving by twisting scriptures.

So let us answer the reason why from the very mouth of YAHushuWaH/Jesus

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father who is in heaven

Hallowed be YOUR NAME

YOUR KINGDOM COME

YOUR WILL BE DONE

in earth, as [it is] in heaven.

Matthew 6:8-13

YAHushuWaH

So how does this apply to giving from the beginning you may well be asking.

Well if you have read the four part series on UNDERSTANDING SALVATION you will know.

If you have not read the series on UNDERSTANDING SALVATION I advise you to do so ASAP

In the beginning there was no tithe, no offering, no giving, because man walked with YAH God perfectly every day. However, once man sinned there was a separation, between man and YAH God.

Take note that YAH God came looking and calling for the man not the woman, again go to the UNDERSTANDING SALVATION series to get an foundational understanding as to why.

The aftermath was that the man attempted go cover his nakedness with leaves but that was not acceptable so YAH made the first sacrificial offering to cover man and his woman.

Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them. — Genesis 3:21 KJV

So YAH set the precedent on what is acceptable to him,

Cain knew better but did not DO better.

Our GIVING has to be acceptable by God in the same way that our prayers need to be in accordance with how YAH directs.

In ALL things the will of YAH must be done

So giving has been a practice from the beginning, and in the situation between Cain and Abel, we see the truth of this passage of scripture made manifest.

Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. — 2 Timothy 3:12 KJV

So let’s move on…

…and Abraham gave Melchizedek tithes of all. — Genesis 14:20 KJV

Contrary to the majority of christian preachers the system of tithe started BEFORE the law was given to moses. The tithing in the law had the eternal principles of God within it, in that it was tied in with the priesthood.

Melchizedek was both a priest unto YAH and a minister to the people of YAH

And Melchizedek king of Salem BROUGHT FORTH bread and wine AND he [was] the PRIEST of the most high God. — Genesis 14:18

So there is no reason to even refer to the law because the principle of giving to God by giving to his ministers was already established BEFORE the law and the leviticus priesthood. One significant truth is that the tithe was not ever monetary it was of your increase of your produce.

The primary thing is to RECOGNIZE the true ministers of YAH. So you can give cheerfully to God in a way that he accepts, sadly the majority of church going Christians have been funding satan and his ministers who do not obey YAH God and teach doctrines of devils NOT the apostles doctrine.

The evidence to prove that many church going Christians are funding satan is, LACK. When abiding by The Apostles Doctrine there is NO lack for the members.

The principle is to bring what you are giving and lay it at the apostles feet. The apostles then give direction as to what is to be done, ensuring no lack in the body of christ / the church. Acts 2:42-45 , Acts 4:32-37

This principle was actually instituted by YAHushuWaH the MessiYAH aka Jesus Christ as recorded in Matt. 19:16–22; Mark 10:17–22 and Luke 18:18–23

Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me. — Mark 10:21 KJV

TAKE NOTE, that even though the people brought what they were giving and laid it at the apostles feet, the apostles were representing YAH by his holy spirit directly.

But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, And kept back [part] of the price, his wife also being privy [to it], and brought a certain part, and laid [it] at the apostles' feet. But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to LIE TO THE HOLY GHOST, and to keep back [part] of the price of the land? Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. — Acts 5:1-4 KJV

Even before this incident, something very significant happened.

TAKE NOTE, Apostle Peter and the rest of the apostles had not long before the following incident received what would equate to millions of dollars worth of offering in today’s money, BUT, read what apostle Peter said in the encounter recorded in Acts 2:1-6

Then Peter said,
SILVER AND GOLD HAVE I NONE;
but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. — Acts 3:6 KJV

Sadly in today’s churches the opposite is said by the so called ministers, whilst members lack.

If I were to use one phrase to describe what is going on in the churches today, I would say…

THE SHEEP ARE BEING FLEECED

I could do a whole teaching on that alone, but, for now let us get back to RECOGNISING the true ministers of YAH

Let’s go back to Melchizedek…

For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; — Hebrews 7

Without going to deep I will tell you the three things to look for.

  1. RIGHTEOUSNESS
    • The man is living to the standards of YAH
  2. PEACE
    • The people the man ministers to receive the peace of YAH
  3. BLESSINGS
    • The man blesses the people

So, we know the significance of the bread and wine foreshadows the ministration of YAHushuWaH aka Jesus embodied and upheld in obedience through what we call the Lords supper every sabbath evening. So the man must be a minister of YAHushuWaH.

YAH has sworn, and will not repent, You [are] a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek. — Psalm 110:4

For he testifieth, Thou [art] a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. — Hebrews 7:17 KJV

So how did YAHushuWaH aka Jesus fulfil these three characteristics. Let’s see…

Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer [it to be so] now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil ALL righteousness. Then he suffered him. And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. — Matthew 3:13-17 KJV
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you... — John 14:27
...and he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them. And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven. — Luke 24:50-51

Now we have the foundation of understanding for giving as directed by the apostles.

...Each one MUST give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver...

Is being a cheerfulgiver about being happy or feeling happy? Well, the answer to that is no.

So what does it mean to be a cheerful giver?

The answer to what does it mean to be a cheerful giver is very simple,, so simple I can tell you in one word…

VALUE

To be cheerful when giving you have to value two things, what value you put on what you are believing God for and what value you have received or are receiving from YAH God through the ministry of the minister of God.

Here are a few examples…

For all [they] did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, [even] all her living. — Mark 12:41-44

If we have sown unto you spiritual things, [is it] a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things? — 1 Corinthians 9:11 KJV

By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh. — Hebrews 11:4 KJV

And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God. — Acts 10:4 KJV

I could present scripture after scripture about giving, but, I am sensitive to how evil men and seducers have manipulated the scriptures and church goers for their own ends, so this may well be the only article or message I do on giving I resonate what the apostle Paul did and said.

What is my reward then? [Verily] that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel. — 1 Corinthians 9:18 KJV

1 Corinthians 9:7-14 ESV — Who serves as a soldier at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard without eating any of its fruit? Or who tends a flock without getting some of the milk? Do I say these things on human authority? Does not the Law say the same? For it is written in the Law of Moses, “You shall not muzzle an ox when it treads out the grain.” Is it for oxen that God is concerned? Does he not certainly speak for our sake? It was written for our sake, because the plowman should plow in hope and the thresher thresh in hope of sharing in the crop. If we have sown spiritual things among you, is it too much if we reap material things from you? If others share this rightful claim on you, do not we even more? Nevertheless, we have not made use of this right, but we endure anything rather than put an obstacle in the way of the gospel of Christ. Do you not know that those who are employed in the temple service get their food from the temple, and those who serve at the altar share in the sacrificial offerings? In the same way, the Lord commanded that those who proclaim the gospel should get their living by the gospel.

Giving is also a supernatural part of believing, as laid out in the book of acts, chapters 2 and 4…

…those that believed…

Acted differently than the others.

Before I conclude I will say this, what you do has no bearing on the minister of God hearing from God or living a holy life pleasing to God because he, as a true man of God has already given up everything to God and for the kingdom and will continue pleasing YAH God.

The only person not giving will really affect is you.

Giving is a part of righteousness.

2 Corinthians 9:6-12 ESV — The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. As it is written, “He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever.” He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God. For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God.

So give where YAH God is delivering value to you, he will confirm your giving, just do not, NOT give
