YAHushuWaH OR YAHuSHA ?

Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth. And there were seven sons of [one] Sceva, a Jew, [and] chief of the priests, which did so. And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. — Acts 19:13-16 KJV

I had a very interesting conversation online of which I will share below regarding the name of the MessiYAH being either Yahushua or Yahusha.

This person is of the mindset that Yahusha is the only way to spell the name of the messiah I am of the mindset that Yahusha or YAHushuWaH are both acceptable because the English language did not exist at the time when the MessiYAH and the apostles walked the earth, so to all intents and purposes we as speakers of a modern language we are doing our best to phonetically recite the name as accurately as possible. Adding to this anyone who has studied language in any way knows there are intonations and pronunciations guttural sounds etc, that are in other languages that do not exist in the English language and all we can do is is approximate the spelling to go with the original phonetics.

This is their profile picture of “facts” they stand by and that uphold their doctrine

What I will do in this article is prove without a shadow of a doubt that the dictatorial and exclusive spelling of the name of the messiah in English is both futile and bordering on error.

To top it off I have even had someone wanting to get into a debate or argument because I spell the masters name as YAHushuWaH and they said I should spell it Yahooshua….!!! Yep go figure.

So let us begin I will start with the word salvation and I will go to the very first time salvation is mentioned as being the salvation of YAH in scripture because in the first image above they use the following scripture at the beginning and the end…

And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. — Matthew 1:21 KJV

In their image they make a clear distinction between the suffix sha and shua. So let us go to the word see what the word says, the apostle Paul stated in the letter to the Roman assembly

…LET GOD BE TRUE AND EVERY MAN A LIAR…

so here we have the first instance the SALVATION of YAH is mentioned specifically in scripture.

And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the SALVATION of YAH*, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. — Exodus 14:13 KJV

So, as you see there the word SALVATION is spelled in English as yesua, which is commonly spelled and pronounced yeshua. Let’s dig deeper…

So here we see SALVATION is spelled in English with the suffix of shua, the suffix they rejected. Let’s dig deeper because as we go further and deeper you will see how immature this issue is.

so here now we see that the root of yeshua is yasha…. Let us dig deeper the lovely person I was speaking to in the image above referenced the name of Elisha so we will go to the first place in scripture where the name of Elijah and Elisha are mentioned together so as to keep the link that they are making together in context.

So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who [was] plowing [with] twelve yoke [of oxen] before him, and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him. — 1 Kings 19:19 KJV

so here we have the name of Elisha…

so we see here that the name Elisha is actually a contracted or shortened form for what?

WOW…. who would have thought the name Elisha is the shortened spelling of Elishuwah…

An interesting fact is that the shortened or contracted form of a name does not actually change the pronunciation of the name hence the use of jots and tittles the little dots and squiggles above and below letters used in shortened forms to help with pronunciation. And what did yahushua say about those jots and tittles?

For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. — Matthew 5:18 KJV

Interesting, also if you do any deeper study into languages and names you will find that more often than not the longer name IS the original name and the shortened form of a name is the contracted modern variation of the original name.

We can find it in modern languages across the world today where as one generation speaking the same language their children will find abbreviations or shortened ways to say the same things that then find its way into common linguistic use.

As we are dealing with names I will not go any further needless to say the root is a word called shava which means to cry out aloud

THE SAME MEANING as shua as shown in their original image above, excerpt shown below.

AMAZING…!!!

If I was going to laboriously beat this proverbial horse to death I would bring out the dead sea Scrolls which have the name of Joshua spelled in both long form and short form but scholars agree that it is still pronounced with the shua even in short form

So why did I start off with the scripture regarding the seven sons of sceva because quite simply they were much more acquainted and knew the name of the messiah and could pronounce it a lot better than us, the issue for them was NOT the pronunciation of a name but their relationship to him and with the father. They had no authority because they had no relationship and therefore the enemy was able through one man to give seven men a good beating.

Sadly so it is in the lives of many so called believers who lean on their pronunciation and spelling and other religious or ritualistic positions that they have no relationship with, and their lives do not demonstrate the power the presence or the love of our risen lord.

The end of the story regarding the seven sons of sceva goes on…

And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified. And many that believed came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds. Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all [men]: and they counted the price of them, and found [it] fifty thousand [pieces] of silver. So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed. — Acts 19:17-20 KJV

So I say to all of you who claim righteousness on the spelling and pseudo-intellectual knowledge of linguistics to do as Apostle Paul did (who also knew how to spell and say the name of the MessiYAH perfectly just like the sons of sceva), let us walk in LOVE in the UNITY of the spirit and the bond of PEACE, declaring together…

That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. — Philippians 3:10-11 KJV

PS.The reason I spell the name of Adonai YAHushuWaH in the way I do is to highlight the link to YHWH it is subtle, but it’s there.

Shalom Love and Blessings
