Matthew 11:29

What Does The Seventh -Day Sabbath Commemorate?

The seventh day sabbath commemorates the seventh day rest of YAH from his work of creation.

And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. THEN God blessed the seventh day AND sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made. — Genesis 2:2-3

What are the Consequences  of Breaking  The   Sabbath  Covenant?

Ultimately the consequence of breaking the Sabbath covenant is separation from YAH and his covenant people.

Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it [is] holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth [any] work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people. — Exodus 31:14 KJV

What are the Benefits Associated  with Keeping the Sabbath?

As part of the covenant and commandments the Sabbath comes with instructions and benefits attached, the same as with all other commandments, instructions and teachings, obedience to YAH brings benefits of different kinds

“If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath,
[From] doing your pleasure on My holy day,
And call the Sabbath a delight,
The holy [day] of YAH honorable,
And shall honor Him, not doing your own ways,
Nor finding your own pleasure,
Nor speaking [your own] words, Then you shall delight yourself in YAH;
And I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth,
And feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father.
The mouth of YAH has spoken.” — Isaiah 58:13-14

Is the Sabbath an Everlasting Covenant?

Yes the sabbath is an everlasting covenant…

And it shall come to pass [That] from one New Moon to another, And from one Sabbath to another, All flesh shall come to worship before Me,” says YAH. — Isaiah 66:23

When YAHushuWaH was teaching his disciples he commanded them very clearly…

“The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. — Matthew 23:2-3

The Sabbath is the fourth commandment so is included in what we as disciples are to do as YAHushuWaH said…

“As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. “If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. — John 15:9-10

And He [YAHushuWaH] said to them,

“The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath

Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath.”

Mark 2:27-28 NKJV
