WOMAN COVERED AND UNCOVERED

As Defined by Scripture

And YAH* [the LORD] God said, [It is] not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. — Genesis 2:18 KJV

If you do thorough biblical research on the role of women you realise that woman is literally God’s gift to man.

And the rib, which YAH* [the LORD] God had taken from man, made he a woman, and BROUGHT HER UNTO THE MAN. — Genesis 2:22 KJV

That being said men have forsaken and forgotten their God-given role and responsibility for this gift, and women have forsaken their God given role and responsibility and how to function with man

In this article we will look at what it means for a woman to be covered or uncovered, using a chart put together by Pete Rambo natsab.com

A woman is essentially meant to be covered from cradle to grave.

Let us just go straight into it

COVERING

Covering means to be under the headship or full legal authority of a man. This can be sexual or non-sexual depending on relationship.

  • I Cor. 11:3, 7-12; Num. 30; Gen. 1:26-28; 2:7-25; 3:20
  • Woman was made FROM man, FOR man, brought TO man, named BY man in both generic and personal aspect.
  • Scripturally, to be UNcovered was to have no legal protection or guardian. Ironically, most women today consider themselves ‘liberated,’ however, Scripture regards this as a place of shame, reproach, harlotry and exposure with no legal and little spiritual
protection. Today’s feminist ‘woman’ would be regarded by the Patriarchs and prophets as a rebellious harlot.

In the sight of YAH a woman has two statuses Covered or UNcovered

As a covered woman the relationship with the man can either be sexual or non sexual.

COVERED

NON-SEXUAL

A woman can be covered by the following:
● Father
● Son
● Brother
● Other = Temporary celibate = A woman under the protective covering of a non-family member (church elder, e.g.) for protection until she is found by a man or she can find a man to be her husband. Husband being a functional role as seen in Ephesians 5:22-33 as well as other scriptures.

May move

A woman may move from the covering of the above. All except avowed celibate, when of the appropriate age, can and should seek refuge under the wing of a man who can meet agreed needs. Ex. 21:8, 9;1 Tim. 5:9,11,14; Isa. 4:1

● Betrothed

A permanently Celibate or Avowed woman = 1 Tim. 5:9-11

SEXUAL

A man’s “Woman” / “Wife

There is no word for ‘wife’ in the Hebrew Bible. Actual passages state, ‘the woman of…’ or ‘his woman…’ indicating responsibility for and ownership of the woman, she being under the man’s legal authority.

This is a permanent status, belonging to the man. Women did not have property or child custody rights. The man is the undisputed head/authority/owner of the family unit. The woman receives provision security, conjugal rights and inheritance. Ex. 21:10

The only exit is adultery Matt. 5:32

Special categories:

QUEEN

Daughter of nobility

CONCUBINE

Christendom has wrongly denigrated the honorable and legal status of ‘concubine.’ Generally, the only difference between what we call a ‘wife’ and a ‘concubine’ was how they came into the relationship with the man. See below.

A concubine has honorable moral status Often a woman who enters the relationship by romantic love, not by dowry or arrangement.

‘Concubine’ in NO way implies ‘mistress.’

Concubines often had no contract/ketubah and therefore had less legal protection.

Concubines have a lower legal status eg. Less or no right to inheritance.from the man.

Scripture seems to indicate that a concubine did not have as much legal protection as a woman who was dowried from her father.

Scripture is a bit vague on the exact boundaries that define a concubine leaving the distinct impression that the terms are negotiable and the man has authority and latitude when setting expectations and boundaries for his concubine.

The above covered statuses of wife and concubine are acceptable before YAH they both mean that the woman is covered.

But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman [is] the man; and the head of Christ [is] God. — 1 Corinthians 11:3 KJV

Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so [let] the wives [be] to their own husbands in EVERY THING. — Ephesians 5:22-24 KJV

UNCOVERED

No Male Headship

Regarded as shameful and a reproach Isa. 4:1

It is outside of the design of YAH for woman to be without a covering. Prov. 31 states clearly that a virtuous woman has a husband no less than three times. So uncovered women cannot be categorized as a virtuous woman.

There is little/no legal protection before YAH or against the accuser of the brethren.

Genesis 1:22 YAH blessed THEM the true original blessing of YAH come WITH a man.

COVERING PRESENTED IN CLOTHING

A woman who is covered by a husband would cover her head to show that she is covered and under the covering of her husband

And Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the eventide: and he lifted up his eyes, and saw, and, behold, the camels [were] coming. And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she lighted off the camel. For she [had] said unto the servant, What man [is] this that walketh in the field to meet us? And the servant [had] said, It [is] my master: THEREFORE SHE TOOK A VAIL, AND COVERED HERSELF. — Genesis 24:63-65 KJV

It is up to the woman to submit to the man NOT for the man to force a woman to submit, in any way.

You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God. This is how the holy women of old made themselves beautiful. They trusted God AND accepted the authority of their husbands. For instance, Sarah obeyed her husband, Abraham, and called him her master. You are her daughters when you do what is right without fear of what your husbands might do. 1 Peter 3:4-6

KINGDOM OF YAH AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. — Matthew 6:33 KJV

Blessed [are] they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. — Matthew 5:6 KJV

And if it seem evil unto you to serve YAH, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that [were] on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSE, WE WILL SERVE YAH. — Joshua 24:15 KJV

Are you going to go your way or YAH’s way?
