THE LAW OF MOSES: AS A DISCIPLE “CHRISTIAN” SHOULD YOU “KEEP” IT ?
The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;
Matthew 13:41 (KJV)
The question of whether we should keep the law of Moses is one of the most contested questions in all churches over the last 2000 years.
Even though our saviour the MessiYAH was very clear and his Apostles reiterated and confirmed by the holy spirit of YAH*
As you know there are no opinions here just the truth that sets you free.
The hard truth is that many, or the majority of people who think that they are doing the right thing will no make it into the kingdom. With this article I want to increase the number who will make it into the kingdom and reduce the amount of those who are at this moment in time destined to hear the words “…depart from me…”
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Matthew 7:22,23 (KJV)
let’s get the definition and understanding of two important words…
OFFENCE / OFFEND
G4625 σκάνδαλον skandalon (skan’-d̮a-lon) n.
- a trap-stick (bent sapling).
- (concretely) a snare.
- (figuratively) a cause of displeasure or sin.
INIQUITY
G458 ἀνομία anomia (a-no-miy’-a) n.
- illegality, i.e. violation of law.
- (genitive case) wickedness. lawless.
- (negatively) not subject to (the Jewish) law.
- (by implication) a Gentile.
- (positively) wicked.
Now that you have the definitions of those words. Let us go on and find out what Jesus the MessiYAH and his Apostles have to say on the topic at hand.
Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples, Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat: All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, [that] observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.
Matthew 23:1-3 (KJV)
Excluding the parables Jesus the MessiYAH was very blunt and direct when he spoke, especially to the pharisees and the sadducees.
Here he is speaking to his disciples which I hope includes you and to the multitude of his followers. He is saying that the pharisees have a position of authority with regards to giving the people direction regarding the law of Moses and how people should live in accordance with it.
Here everyone listening is being told to do ALL not some, not a part, Jesus said ALL that the pharisees bid you do with regards to the law of Moses that we should OBSERVE and DO so lets look at those two words to get a better understanding
OBSERVE
G5083 τηρέω tereo (tee-re’-ō) v.
- to guard (from loss or injury).
- (properly) by keeping the eye upon, i.e. to note (a prophecy).
- (thus, figuratively) to fulfil a command.
- (by implication) to detain in custody.
- (thus, figuratively) to maintain.
- (by extension) to withhold for personal ends.
- (thus, figuratively) to keep unmarried.
DO
G4160 ποιέω poieo (poi-ye’-ō) v.
to make or do.
[apparently a prolonged form of an obsolete primary] : abide, + agree, appoint, X avenge, + band together, be, bear, + bewray, bring (forth), cast out, cause, commit, + content, continue, deal, + without any delay, (would) do(-ing), execute, exercise, fulfil, gain, give, have, hold, X journeying, keep, + lay wait, + lighten the ship, make, X mean, + none of these things move me, observe, ordain, perform, provide, + have purged, purpose, put, + raising up, X secure, shew, X shoot out, spend, take, tarry, + transgress the law, work, yield
So we see here out of the mouth of Jesus The MessiYAH we are commanded to observe and do the law of moses BUT not in the same way that the pharisees do, because they talk about it and tell other people to do it but do not do it. After this Jesus goes openly rebukes and condemns the pharisees
GO ASK YOUR PASTOR
Jesus told us that we have to observe and do according to the law of Moses why do you teach us that the law is done away with?
It would be interesting to hear what your pastor says.
But before that let us find out what the handpicked Apostles of Jesus The MessiYAH taught.
Lets start with The Apostle Paul…
Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, [of] the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;
Philippians 3:5 (KJV)
Apostle Paul here states his credentials as someone who knows his heritage and was himself a pharisee, just like the ones that Jesus rebuked and condemned.
19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. 20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law [is] the knowledge of sin.
Romans 3:19-20 (KJV)
Ok so here he states clearly that no one can be justified by the law. So no matter how perfectly you lived and kept the law that would not justify you before YAH God. The law actually teaches us that we have been breaking the Law of YAH God
Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: FOR SIN IS TRANSGRESSION OF THE LAW
1John 3:4
Here we see the Apostle John state clearly the definition of sin whch is transgressing the Law.
TRANSGRESSION OF THE LAW
ἀνομία anomía, an-om-ee’-ah;
- the condition of without law
- because ignorant of it
- because of violating it
- contempt and violation of law, iniquity, wickedness
from G459; illegality, i.e. violation of law or (genitive case) wickedness:—iniquity, × transgress(-ion of) the law, unrighteousness.
The real shocker is is that your Christian pastor etc in your church will never tell you. Probably because they have not got a clue, because, the word that the Apostle John uses for Transgression of the Law is exactly the same word Jesus uses for the word iniquity recorded in the following verses
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work INIQUITY.
Matt 7:23
The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do INIQUITY;
Matt 13:41
Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and INIQUITY.
Matt 23:28
And because INIQUITY shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
Matt 24:12
So far that is very clear. If we do not observe and do as the law of moses directs us to live then we are workers of iniquity transgressing or breaking the law of YAH God.
But just to hammer home the point and to stop you from continuing to stumble and commit iniquity I will go on and address just some of the scriptures that many pastors and so called leaders use to
But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God [which is] by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Romans 3:21-24 (KJV)
It is not the law that justified us it is the grace of YAH God through Jesus The MessiYAH
[Is he] the God of the Jews only? [is he] not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also: 30 Seeing [it is] one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.
Romans 3:29-30.
Both Jew and Gentile need Faith to be justified
Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.
Romans 3:31 (KJV)
The Apostle states clearly the Law has not been voided, but as Apostles they ESTABLISH the law
So what do you have to say on this?
What does your Bishop say?
What does your Pastor say?
What does your so called Apostle or Prophet say?
What do any of your elders, deacons or leader say?
Before I conclude lets go back to the word offence that was near the beginning.
Many people mis-translate that word offence and offences in the scriptures for the modern meaning of to offend someone which is….
- cause to feel upset, annoyed, or resentful.
- “17 per cent of viewers said they had been offended by bad language”
- hurt someone’s feelings
However the more accurate meaning of the word offence and offend is to stumble or to cause someone else to stumble regarding the law of YAH God
So when Christ The MessiYAH returns and takes out all things that offend he is literally stating that all things that cause people to stumble in keeping the law of YAH God
But lets go on because the Apostle Paul like the Apostle John is very clear
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
The Apostle Paul’s letter to Romans 6:1-2
We are not meant to continue breaking the law after baptism. full stop.
— For Christ [is] the end of the law FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS to every one that believeth.
Romans 10:4 KJV
It is clear that Jesus the MessiYAH is the end of the law for RIGHTEOUSNESS… NOT the end of the law. Christ is our Righteousness our obedience to the law as led by the spirit of Christ makes us his disciples.
— For Moses describeth THE RIGHTEOUSNESS WHICH IS OF THE LAW, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.
Romans 10:5 KJV
Christ is our Righteousness, but as the Apostle Paul states clearly….
For I DELIGHT IN THE LAW OF GOD after the inward man:
Romans 7:22 KJV
How can the modern leaders tell us to forget the law yet the hand picked apostles delighted observed and did the law in accordance with what Jesus taught.
I could go on further and deeper in the scriptures and show you how your leaders are causing you to stumble at the word of YAH God to perpetually sin and potentially be labelled by Jesus The MessiYAH as a worker of iniquity.
— For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
Romans 8:2 KJV
I will just conclude with this fact.
Jesus commanded that disciples are to be made from believers.
If you are a christian, a churchgoer or church member you need to be discipled in accordance with the Apostles doctrine there is literally no other way if you want to escape the Judgement of Christ The messiYAH and hear the words
…..Well done, [thou] good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
Matt 25:21
…Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
Matt 25:23
Do you want to know what laws were done away with 100% through Christ The MessiYAH?
Well I will tell you, you have come this far, so I commend you.
It is the levitical law with the required ordinances attached the sacrificial law that was used like a Band-Aid, but had to be repeated again and again but now YAHushua (YAH who saves) aka Jesus has fulfilled ALL the requirements to be the perfect sacrificial lamb, that Abraham prophesied to and through Isaac
…..and Abraham said, “My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering.” So the two of them went together.
Genesis 22:8 NKJV
The levitical laws of sacrifice were all talking about the work of the MessiYAH to come.
For the law (the levitical law), having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect. For then would they not have ceased to be offered? For the worshipers, once purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins. But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins.
Hebrews 10:1-4 NKJV
The ordinances were temporary teachers of the work of the MessiYAH.
For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.
Hebrews 10:14 NKJV
So understand that….
…..YAH God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
2Cor 5:19
YAH does not want us to continue in the ways of the world by its laws and standards of living…
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And DO NOT BE CONFORMED TO THIS WORLD, but BE TRANSFORMED BY THE RENEWING OF YOUR MIND, THAT YOU MAY PROVE what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Romans 12:1-2 NKJV
As I say to all YAHites disciples of The MessiYAH I say to you now.
YOU ARE CALLED TO BE A GOD PROVER
Stop walking as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind….
put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind…
put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
Ephesians 4
