PERILOUS TIMES HAVE COME

2 Timothy 3:1 KJV — This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

Can you recognise any of these traits…

MEN SHALL BE….

LOVERS OF THEIR OWN SELVES

  1. loving one’s self
  2. too intent on one’s interest, selfish

COVETOUS

loving money, avarice

BOASTERS

an empty pretender, a boaster

PROUD

  1. showing one’s self above others, overtopping, conspicuous above others, pre-eminent
  2. with an overweening estimate of one’s means or merits, despising others or even treating them with contempt, haughty

BLASPHEMERS

speaking evil, slanderous, reproachful, railing, abusive

DISOBEDIENT TO PARENTS

impersuasible, not compliant, disobedient, contumacious

UNTHANKFUL

ungracious

  1. unpleasing
  2. unthankful

UNHOLY

unholy, impious, wicked

WITHOUT NATURAL AFFECTION

without natural affection, unsociable (Rom 1:31 marg), inhuman (2Ti. 3:3 RSV), unloving (2Ti. 3:3 NKJV)

TRUCEBREAKERS

  1. without a treaty or covenant
    1. of things not mutually agreed upon e.g. abstinences from hostilities
  2. that cannot be persuaded to enter into a covenant, implacable

FALSE ACCUSERS

  1. prone to slander, slanderous, accusing falsely
    1. a calumniator, false accuser, slanderer,
  2. metaph. applied to a man who, by opposing the cause of God, may be said to act the part of the devil or to side with him

INCONTINENT

without self-control, intemperate

FIERCE

not tame, savage, fierce

DESPISERS OF THOSE THAT ARE GOOD

opposed to goodness and good men

TRAITORS

a betrayer, traitor

HEADY

  1. to fall forwards, headlong, sloping, precipitously
  2. precipitate, rash, reckless

HIGHMINDED

  1. to raise a smoke, to wrap in a mist
    1. metaph.
      1. to make proud, puff up with pride, render insolent
      2. to be puffed up with haughtiness or pride
  2. to blind with pride or conceit, to render foolish or stupid
    1. beclouded, besotted

LOVERS OF PLEASURES MORE THAN LOVERS OF GOD

loving pleasure more than loving God by keeping his commandments

HAVING

  1. to have, i.e. to hold
    1. to have (hold) in the hand, in the sense of wearing, to have (hold) possession of the mind (refers to alarm, agitating emotions, etc.), to hold fast keep, to have or comprise or involve, to regard or consider or hold as
  2. to have i.e. own, possess
    1. external things such as pertain to property or riches or furniture or utensils or goods or food etc.
    2. used of those joined to any one by the bonds of natural blood or marriage or friendship or duty or law etc, of attendance or companionship
  3. to hold one’s self or find one’s self so and so, to be in such or such a condition
  4. to hold one’s self to a thing, to lay hold of a thing, to adhere or cling to
    1. to be closely joined to a person or a thing

A FORM

  1. a forming, shaping
  2. form
    1. the mere form, semblance
    2. the form befitting a thing or truly expressing the fact, the very form

OF GODLINESS

  1. reverence, respect
  2. piety towards God, godliness

BUT DENYING

  1. to deny
  2. to deny someone
    1. to deny one’s self
      1. to disregard his own interests or to prove false to himself
      2. act entirely unlike himself
  3. to deny, abnegate, abjure
  4. not to accept, to reject, to refuse something offered

THE POWER

strength power, ability

  1. inherent power, power residing in a thing by virtue of its nature, or which a person or thing exerts and puts forth
  2. power for performing miracles
  3. moral power and excellence of soul
  4. the power and influence which belong to riches and wealth
  5. power and resources arising from numbers
  6. power consisting in or resting upon armies, forces, hosts

THEREOF

referring to the inherent power contained in living a holy life in ireverence, respect and piety towards God, godliness.

Probably the saddest thing I see about this revelational instruction and prophecy is that I have seen these attributes in so-called christians.

Shun stay away from these people with these traits…
