MONOGAMY VS POLYGYNY

TO SIN OR NOT TO SIN THAT IS THE QUESTION

The debate on polygamy or what should rightly be called polygyny and monogamy is increasing exponentially.

In this article I am going to provide proof of the biblical view of the union between man and woman and how YAH has regulated this union.

Many people debate from the viewpoint of what is the will of God by then using the scriptures to validate their own personal or point of view

As YAHites we are only interested in what the will of YAH GOD is through YAHushua aka Jesus, holiness, knowing what sin is, what is iniquity and what is righteousness

So before we continue into the strong meat let us first lay the foundation with godly principles and knowledge

Firstly let me be clear I’m neither advocating monogamy neither am I advocating polygyny I am advocating THE WILL OF YAH GOD AND HIS COMMANDMENTS along with THE WORDS OF YAHushua aka Jesus so that we will all live lives that are pleasing to him so that we are holy and acceptable to him

SIN

So let’s deal with the big one first of all, sin. What is sin? Many people have their own ideas and their own explanation or philosophy on what sin is but what we stand on is what the prophets and the apostles say, so let us us base OUR definition and understanding on what the servants of YAH declare in his holy word.

1 John 3:4 KJV — Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for SIN IS THE TRANSGRESSION OF THE LAW.

And let us be clear this is not simply talking about the law of God given through Moses but it is referring to to the law of God that existed before Moses.

INIQUITY

Now what is iniquity we have a great definition of what iniquity is la out beautifully in the story of Saul, which you can read in the first book of Samuel the prophet in chapter 15.

Saul had been given explicit direct instructions from YAH GOD but he chose to disobey and do his own thing, after doing everything else to the letter

The prophet then pronounces judgement on Saul the King, stating that what he had done was rebellion and iniquity which is stubbornly only doing part of what YAH God has asked you to do while persisting to do things your own way

1 Samuel 15:22-23 KJV — And Samuel said, Hath the LORD [as great] delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey [is] better than sacrifice, [and] to hearken than the fat of rams. For rebellion [is as] the sin of witchcraft, and STUBBORNNESS [is as] INIQUITY and IDOLATRY.

So what effects does SIN and INIQUITY have on people ?

isaiah 59:2 kjv — But YOUR INIQUITIES HAVE SEPARATED between you and your God, and YOUR SINS HAVE HID [HIS] FACE from you, that he will not hear.

So we see that iniquities cause separation between Man and God and sins cause the face of God to be hidden so that he will not hear their prayers

HOLINESS

So what about holiness and righteousness?

Let’s hear about holiness first

hebrews 12:14 kjv — Follow peace with all [men], and HOLINESS, WITHOUT WHICH NO MAN shall see the Lord:

Holiness translates to the meaning of being set Apart so we see here that we need to be set Apart to even be able to see the Lord

1 Peter 1:15-16 KJV — But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, BE YE HOLY; FOR I AM HOLY.

So we are commanded by the Apostle in line with the prophets to be holy to be set Apart to be a set Apart people

RIGHTEOUSNESS

Matthew 5:6 KJV — Blessed [are] they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Matthew 5:10 KJV — Blessed [are] they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 5:20 KJV — For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed [the righteousness] of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 6:33 KJV — But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Luke 1:75 KJV — In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.

And we see here the vital importance of righteousness the righteousness of God through Christ Jesus by faith

Philippians 3:9 KJV — And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

LAW

Again I reiterate and clarify that the law that we’re referring to is not the law of Moses, which is being mentioned here, because by the works of the law, by trying to keep every law of Moses perfectly, no flesh can be justified. What I am referring to is the law that existed from before Adam sinned and was given to Moses so that all the Earth would know, what sin is.

John 1:17 KJV — For the law was given by Moses, [but] grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

This is why the Apostle Paul asks the question and then response with the answer

Romans 6:1-4 KJV — What shall we say then? SHALL WE CONTINUE IN SIN, THAT GRACE MAY ABOUND? GOD FORBID. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

So so in other words just because we have been saved by grace through Faith doesn’t mean that we have to continue you walking our old sinful lives so that Grace continues we have to to follow Jesus Christ YAHushua The MessiYAH we have to be his disciple

And he said…

Matthew 5:17-19 KJV — Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach [them], the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

It is by faith we trust in, follow and believe Jesus Christ / YAHushua the MessiYAH who gives us the HOLY spirit to lead us into all Truth who gives us gifts according to our abilities to help one another

1 John 1:7 KJV — if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Hopefully that gives you a foundation on the basic principles of holiness, righteousness sin and iniquity

So let us move on to the topic at hand.

MONOGAMY VS POLYGYNY

As I stated at the beginning the debate of monogamy and polygyny has increasingly become a hot topic throughout the Earth in all churches

And without attempting to guess or re-interpret scripture let us go with what YAH says

Firstly in scripture at no time has YAH God ever condemned or outlawed monogamy or polygyny

Neither did he ever state a preference of monogamy over polygyny or polygyny over monogamy as his will

What YAH did was firstly to give man a function and then he gave the woman to the man as the ideal help to fulfill that function

Genesis 2:7 KJV — And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Genesis 2:15 KJV — And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.

Genesis 2:18 KJV — And the LORD God said, [It is] not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

Genesis 2:22-23 KJV — And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This [is] now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

Then he blessed them and commanded them to be fruitful and to multiply.

Genesis 1:27-28 KJV — So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

We know that polygyny existed BEFORE the law of Moses because we read about the father of our faith Abraham

Genesis 25:6 KJV — But unto the sons of THE CONCUBINES, WHICH ABRAHAM HAD…

Now remember Abraham was at no time condemned for having concubines in fact he is called the father of faith

Romans 4:12 KJV — And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also WALK IN THE STEPS OF THAT FAITH OF OUR FATHER ABRAHAM, which [he had] being [yet] uncircumcised.
Romans 4:16 KJV — Therefore [it is] of faith, that [it might be] by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of THE FAITH OF ABRAHAM; WHO IS THE FATHER OF US ALL,

and A FRIEND of God

James 2:23 KJV — And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and HE WAS CALLED THE FRIEND OF GOD.

Now when the law of Moses came to be. From the mouth of YAH came these words of commandment

Exodus 21:10 KJV — …If he TAKE HIM ANOTHER [WIFE]; her food, her raiment, and her duty of marriage, shall he not diminish.

This is virtually straight after he spoke the ten commandments to the nation of Israel directly.

In simple terms YAH says if a man decides to take another wife he cannot, he must not, he is not allowed, to diminish the care of the current wife or wives

So before the law of Moses YAH never condemned polygyny, during the law of Moses YAH never condemned polygyny and after the law of Moses YAH never condemned polygyny because as Jesus / YAHushua stated

Matthew 5:18 KJV — … one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law till ALL be fulfilled...

And we know that ALL has not yet been fulfilled because we are still waiting for the return of Jesus YAHushua and the judgement of the world and the setting up of his kingdom amongst many other things. So there is a lot still to occur until ALL is fulfilled

There was never actually any real debate or questioning on this topic until the formation of of the Roman Catholic which at its core is pagan and anti Christ/ anti MessiYAH

It was in fact THE LAW OF ROME THAT DEMANDED MONOGAMY BY LAW.

So we can see clearly hear that monogamy was a law enforced upon the people buy Rome not by YAH GOD

So hunger and thirst after righteousness. Judge with righteous judgement.

Pitting monogamy against polygyny is a fallacy and gross error because YAH never condemned either. It was and is the choice of the man, regulated by YAH GOD with stipulations, regulations and guidance as detailed plainly in the scriptures.

I could go into much detail both from what we call the old testament and from the New testament on this topic but for now this will suffice if you do have any questions or comments please write in the comment box below
