COGNITIVE DISSONANCE AND YOU
Romans 12:2 KJV — And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

It is without question or doubt that as Christianity has grown and expanded throughout the Earth that various doctrines, ideas and philosophies claiming to be based on scripture truth but are in actuality perversions of truth have tossed believers to and fro into various denominations that blow them from one various doctrine to another.
So what happens when a believer is faced with hardcore facts and truth without the slick talking of a so-called minister of God. When the scriptures are opened and are made plain?
How many people experience the discomforting effect known in psychology circles as cognitive dissonance. Here is a brief explanation of what cognitive dissonance is
In the field of psychology, COGNITIVE DISSONANCE occurs when a person holds two or more contradictory beliefs, ideas, or values, or participates in an action that goes against one of these three, and experiences psychological stress because of that. According to this theory, when two actions or ideas are not psychologically consistent with each other, people will do all in their power to change them until they become consistent.[1] The discomfort is triggered by the person’s belief clashing with new information perceived, wherein they will try to find a way to resolve the contradiction to reduce their discomfort.[1][2

So to put it in layman’s terms when you have held a belief which some have held from childhood or early in life you feel discombobulated, when you are presented with truth that conflicts or contradicts your currently held belief or understanding.
I have seen people literally go into a state of confusion because the truth of the scripture they have received, they know is true however it contradicts their beliefs and they feel conflicted inside. Some even feel disloyal to the people who have either lied to them for personal gain or whatever reason or misled them if they believe and follow the truth
I have even been told “…..I know that everything that you’re saying is true but I still want to go on with what I believe…” ??♂️
I sincerely believe everyone who believes in YAH through YAHushua aka Jesus is meant to be a God prover, proving the good and acceptable and perfect will of YAH God. However, the only way that can be accomplished is by the renewing of your mind.
The word renewing in the above passage of scripture is defined as follows
Strong’s Definitions: ἀνακαίνωσις anakaínōsis, an-ak-ah’-ee-no-sis; from G341; RENOVATION:—renewing.
And if we look at the word renovation in the English dictionary we see the following definition
So quite literally the Apostle by the holy Spirit is telling us that we need to repair and improve our mind.
Also let’s look at the word renewing
And here we see that it’s a continual process replacing that which is old or run out or is expiring for the purpose of longevity
John 10:10 KJV — The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I AM COME THAT THEY MIGHT HAVE LIFE, AND THAT THEY MIGHT HAVE [IT] MORE ABUNDANTLY.

The truth of God’s word is light and brings light. It exposes the cracks the damage the disrepair the mess and the decay that your mind belief system is in.
So I encourage you do not reject the truth of God’s word, embrace it, do the work necessary by faith, so that you too can stop languishing in disbelief but instead become a God prover
